Very good cleaning machine
I purchased my 2x pro heat about 1 month ago. Prior to this I used a low end Bissell which I thought was good, but with one pass on this new cleaner I was impressed.

I want everyone to know that I recommend this cleaner, it far surpasses my lower end Bissell and the high end Hoover I borrowed from the neighbor.

Reading some of these other reviews I understand the problems with some of the negative reviews.

One person writes that the cleaner left all the water on the floor. There is a red filter/flapper on the dirty water resivour. If you get too much foam in the container there is a flap that closes the intake so that the foam does not get sucked in the cleaner. Go dump the dirty water. Then check that red flapper and make sure it is not stuck to the intake. If it is just tap the container and it will flip back down. If it is sticking then you may be using too much cleaner.

When you finish up make sure you fill the soap container with...

You wouldn't believe the gunk it got out of my carpet
My carpet is old and due for replacement. While this Bissell carpet cleaner couldn't remove years of wear, it did remove a surprising volume of dirt. At first, I didn't think it was really doing all that much. But once I emptied out the tank, my God, what a filthy carpet I was walking on! The used water was a very dark gray bordering on black. Yuck!

There's a handy little spinning wheel icon on the base of the unit (aka the flow gauge) that tells you if everything's going according to plan, or if you need to change the water, add cleaning fluid or some other issue. If it's spinning, you're in good shape. When it stops, you need to fill or empty the tank(s).

The cleaner has 4 different "custom clean" settings. I mostly used the "normal clean" setting and then switched to "heavy traffic" for the dirtiest regions. The "Dry Aire" feature sends hot air to your carpet to aid in drying. As I write this, my living room is somewhat humid and the floor is damp...
Not a professional steam clean, but nice nonetheless
I had previously owned a Bissell ProHeat back in 2002 and felt that there was a lot of money invested in a cleaner that didn't really show a lot of promise. When I moved across the country, I didn't feel much of a loss when the moving company accidentally "misplaced" the ProHeat. When I saw the newer 66Q4, I wanted to test it out in order to see if Bissell had made any marked improvements over their previous lines, and alas, there's not a whole lot of change.

For around $300, you're paying for a couple of things. First off, you're paying so that you can clean your carpet on your own time; no need to schedule a professional steam cleaning company to do it for you. You're also paying for the clean that comes with "washing" the carpet instead of just vacuuming up the dust and dirt that's accumulated between the fibers. Most professional steam cleaning companies charge around $100-200 for their services (obviously depending on the size of the house/apartment), so there is a...

Powerful and effective, but very bulky
We have two big dogs, a puppy, and a cat, so the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser looked perfect for us.

Pros:
The power and suction are very good.
The collector compartment is adequately sized.
The power cord is long (30 feet!), which is a big plus.

Cons:
It is very big and bulky.
The flip-down pet hair sweep is awkward to use.
The expandable attachment hose is difficult to remove and replace.

Overall opinion: The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is powerful and effective, but it handles like a '57 Chevy!

It's only for carpet.
We have 5 long haired dogs and a completely carpeted lower floor. This vacuum has no option to stop the brush from spinning for doing hard floors, it's really only for carpet. The suction is pretty good, it got up a lot of hair, but the suction of the hose is terrible.

The directions for putting it together are just horrible, we had to look at the picture on the box and figure it out ourselves.

We have a Bissell Lift Off which I don't like the handle of, it's like a stick. This vacuum has a very nice handle.

That said, this vacuum whines. It's a constant low whine. I could stand it but it's constant and the lower floor is big. We have had similar whines on older machines but this one is brand new. Also, the manual is not for this model. It's for another model of this machine.
Much to do About Nothing
All Smoke & Mirrors - Another sub-standard product from Bissell. I have a Bissell rug shampooer which we have to take apart for EVERY room EVERY time we use it because the machine is so poorly designed it clogs.

The Bissell vaccum looks impressive when assembled but fails to work well. Rather than place the start button near the handle for easy access, Bissell has placed it half way down the machine - for an awkward reach.

Unless you're a prize fighter the vacuum is a bull to maneuver and so heavy its actually uncomfortable to use. As for the highly touted "pet hair" suction, forget it. The machine is not powerful enough to do a good job. The Bissell has 12 amps. Next time I'll get a Hoover.

The only positive is the nice long cord. Other than that, I'm looking to give it away.

BISSELL Total Floors Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner, White, 2949
The BISSELL Total Floors Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner thoroughly and effectively cleans hard floors. This lightweight and easy to use machine combines what is typically a two-step process of cleaning hard floors into one convenient machine. First, use it to vacuum up dirt, crumbs and pet hair prior to wet cleaning. Then, simply flip the unit around to wet mop. The wet mop mode sprays, washes & suctions to leave floors dry. The GentleClean Brush and Mop Pad are interchangeable allowing you to choose according to your cleaning need or surface type.

Convenient, Lightweight, Simple To Use
I enjoy using this floor cleaner. With the amount of hardwood/laminate and linolium that I have in my downstairs area, I can go a bottle of expensive floor cleaner in just a few days or so, especially in the wintertime. The cleaner I buy is 4 or 5 dollars a bottle. The cleaner you use in this machine lasts a long time - it only takes a quarter cup or so mixed water for the tank and a tank will last most of the week for me.

Here is what else I like about this cleaner: It's very lightweight and portable. I can take it upstairs to clean the bathroom floors very easily. One of the bathrooms is large and with this machine, I can easily carry it up-vacuum the room and then mop it in one go. This cleaner gets the edges around the baseboard well and it hugs up against the walls.

As for my larger rooms downstairs, this works well too. The vacuum is no Dyson, but it does a good job on dust, dirt, mud, cat/dog hair and particles, but it won't suck up larger things. If you...

Okay...
We recently moved and went from a home with mostly carpets to a home with almost all tile and pergo. In my previous house we used a swifter on the kitchen floor and small wood floor area in the dining room. As we have so much tile here I was hoping this would be just what I was looking for.

I love the design, that you can dry vacuum and then flip it over and wet vac. That works really well, you just flip the handle over and it was very simple. What I didn't love was the weight, I found this vacuum to be fairly heavy especially with the water tank full and the wet clean feature just seemed to leave small puddles that could then be suctioned up.

It worked okay, but I had an aching back by the time I was done. I already have a very light vacuum cleaner, and then use a swifter for dry and wet mopping. I actually find the swifter much easier to use then this Bissell, the Swifter is light and you moisten the mop for a wet clean, and it's much less expensive...
Good wet cleaning, adequate dry, great value for price
The two capabilities of this vacuum are that it functions as a regular dry vac, sucking up dust and debris, and providing deeper cleaning on the wet side. The first thing I did was use the dry vacuum function and I found it adequate, but with some weaknesses which are common in upright vacuums with a broad and low head. It picked up dust, hair, and errant bits of debris. However, larger things like an errant lemon seed that fell on the kitchen floor tended to just get scooted around as the seed was too tall to get sucked into the vacuum cleaner. I had to pick the vacuum up and set it on top of such things, or simply scoop up the seed with a hand brush and dust pan. I do not see this as a failing of the vacuum, but it is a point to consider if you're hoping not to have to do any manual cleaning at all. This isn't going to suck up every large particle you drop on the floor.

The second aspect of this is the wet vacuum. The way this is implemented is pretty smooth. You swap...
