They're working well for me
My vacuum bags are working well. The only one that lost its seal is the one the cat slept on before I could put it away... and I expect if I get busy with some thick tape, I'll be able to repair the holes.
I bought these for the square base. I can put a bag into one of those plastic storage bins, fill the bag with textiles, seal and remove the air, and then much MORE fiber fits into the bag / bin than would ever have fit with simple gravity compression (sitting on it). I've also used these bags inside a suitcase used for storage, to compress silks that I'm saving. Again, allowed me to get way more fiber into the suitcase than merely sitting on the lid would have.
I have seen other bags that were made from thicker plastic. I bought that set from a thrift shop, and about half failed to hold a seal. Can't tell if it was the brand or a bad donation.
I do protect anything I store in a vacuum bag with another level of wrapping--sheets or plastic bins...
